Now widely regarded as London’s leading alternative music and arts festival – with most of the performances free – this year’s Fringe has more venues than ever before. The music ranges through folk, rock, jazz, soul, garage punk and Turkish/Kurdish, while we also have bookshop readings from two of our finest local authors, Martin Rosen and Iain Sinclair, as well as poetry from celebrated local poets such as Jan Noble and a weekend of visual art at Praxis Gallery, featuring a host of familiar names including Billy Childish and Martin Westwood. We are also presenting a weekend of film and animation, as well as Pinball Geoff’s ‘In Arcadia’, his museum of bygone pinball and arcade machines. So something for everyone, it would appear.
The Fringe is presented and promoted by N16 Magazine, now in its tenth year of existence, and is again supported by a range of local businesses, in particular Yum Yum, to whom we extend our thanks and appreciation for helping to keep the Fringe now the only local, annual Stoke Newington Community Festival. We expect the bars and venues of Stoke Newington to be buzzing with happy punters over the weekend, and we hope to see you there, joining in the general lunacy, craziness and mayhem. If not, what are you doing here? Many thanks to all of the bands, performers, advertisers, sponsors, volunteers, venues, and everyone that's helping out.
Enjoy the Fringe!
