Back to N16 Fringe

What a weekend!

Time Out
caught the mood, devoting almost half its Music Listings section to the Fringe, while in a lead preview entitled 'The master Stoke' Metro promised 'a weekend of free gigs steeped in a defiant spirit of making music for the sheer simple love of it'. And they weren't wrong, as anyone who attended the Nazarites, The Toes, Katus and Tony Wrafter, John Etheridge, Gin Palace and Reconnaissance, among many others, will agree.

Thanks to everyone who helped out and to all the venues for their support, enthusiasm and co-operation. Thanks in particular to Donagh at his spectacular new venue, The Eye, which only an hour before the first gig was still crawling with electricians, builders and carpenters. But the show went on…

You can read a full report of the Fringe in N16 Magazine from July 18 (n16mag.com). We'll be back next year, even bigger and better than ever. Keep your eyes on this website.

Hank Wangford, Johnny 4, The Toes
The Greenbacks, A.R.M.O.U.R., Gin Palace, Mary Lee’s Corvette, Katus,
Dogheads...

…are just a few of the performers who will be appearing at the N16 Fringe Festival 2003.

Welcome to the second N16 Fringe Festival!

The first Fringe - which we set up last year as a response to the cancellation of the famous Sunday street festival - was so successful that we've decided to run it again.

We've got an even bigger and better programme this year, featuring bands, performers and artists from Stoke Newington and beyond. Our emphasis is on promoting local talent but we are delighted also to welcome internationally known acts, including Hank Wangford, Miles Hunt and John Etheridge. The programme is not all music, with a comedy night at the Stoke Tup and a short films festival over the weekend. Venues all over Stoke Newington are participating in the Fringe.

We are particularly pleased that The Eye - a new, 550 capacity venue on the High Street - is the focus of the weekend.

Every performance at The Eye will be broadcast live on our website.

Keep an eye on the website for updated information. This
programme is correct at the time of going to press but inevitably there will be changes as the weekend approaches.

The bars and restaurants of Stoke Newington will be buzzing on 13-15 June. Come along and join the party.
See you there!
