Welcome to Sevent N16 Fringe music festival!

This is a selection of some of the performers, bands and musicians who will be performing over the Fringe weekend. More information on each act, and a comprehensive listing and programme, will be available on www.n16fringe.com on the days leading up to the Fringe. Make sure you keep in touch.

A Child Rasputin: Live looping master who offers a heady mixture of haunting vocals, electric guitar moog and electric music.

Acoustica N16: Mellow folk and acoustic music from some local performers.

Balabustah: Klezmer duo playing fantastic fiddle and accordion. Lower Clapton residents for years who have played all over Europe with their east European gypsy romance and their own excellent compositions.

Yasemin Balandi: Poet and short story writer.

Liam Bailey: Stokey soul and reggae musician.

Emily Barker: Australian singer/songwriter: ‘'...a willowy, plaintive voice with more than a touch of Gillian Welch and Neko Case… sharply observed, original songs’' Uncut.

Big Fibbers: ‘'A dangerously different duo from a dark kettle of fish' present a Bucket of Fun.

Bowie Bar: Come on, you Diamond Dogs, and get down to the Shillelagh...

Martin Carthy: The living legend of folk music and an inspiration to generations of folk singers/guitarists (Bob Dylan and Paul Simon, for starters... ). And how nice to have him back at the Fringe.

City Farmers: Rock ‘'n roll, country, folk, blues, punk… led by ex-Godfather Mike Gibson with his excellent band.

Marmaduke Dando: Booming baritone with morose ballads and frisky jigs.

DJ Harvey: Classic ska and reggae from the early years.

The Dublo: ‘'A raw, authentic sound that harks back to the rural rent party blues of the 1930s – filthy blues boogie, shit-kickin' rock 'n roll and spine-tingling gospel shanties.’'

Electroacoustic club: Live music in all its diversity.

Fete QUAQUA: Twelve creative musicians in a celebration of all things improvised.

High Priests: Raw retro pop, intelligent lyrics, ‘'a must for fans of rugged and unrefined rock pop’'.

Hillbilly and the Bonfire: Stokey folk and blues duo with a unique blend of roiginal songwriting and bluesy stomp. Harmonies to knock your socks off.

Rebecca Jade: Welsh-born singer and Stoke Newington local playing with her new band as well as backing vocal for Citizen Helene and the Racists.

Lady of Grace: Swing and cha cha party with DK Kamikaze and dress-up code fringe style 20s and 30s.

Greta Lange: Concertina lady playing solo and with a band of multi-talented musicians.

Luxury Condo: ‘'bringing a Lynchian eeriness to bar room blues’', with percussion supplied by Pinball Geoff.

Dave Milkins: Acoustic blues-influenced singer/songwriter.

Monkey Island: One of the mainstays of Stokey rock ‘'n roll, ‘'a dangerously explosive cocktail of primal punk rock marinated with zests of dirty blues’'.

Morning Bride: Stokey’'s own Anglo-Americana troubadours. ‘'Every song on debut album Lea Valley Delta Blues is a triumph' The Word.

N16 Funk Collective: Jam session with DJ Funkmaster Trevor playing 70s funk and soul. Bring your own instruments and join in.

Taishi Nagasaka and Tiger Art Stock: Four days exhibition of painting, sculpture, visual art, film and music from this Japanese artist and his friends.

The Other Brothers: Traditional Irish acoustic music and songs from the renowned and popular local performers.

Plakka: Post-punk, new wave and pop from Stoke Newington favourites.

The Popes: Raucous, energetic Irish folk-rock, described as the Irish equivalent of Booker T and the MGs. Internationally renowned, multi-talented band.

Powerdown V: A night without amplification and minimal carbon footprint. For specific bands see programme.

Rock ‘'n Roll Cabaret: Glass Shark, Turning Green, Tim Ten Yen, Cuckoo Savante, DJ Elroy and burlesque dancers.

Ian Shaw: The finest male jazz vocalist of his generation with a string of highly acclaimed albums to his credit.

Smartrocker: !In Absentia! – a night of Heavy Rock 'n' Roll with The Owlls, Weird Love and Toehammer.

Tall Stories: North London three-piece – ‘'Lonnie Donnegan skipping bail at The Kinks' house'.

Nicky Taylor: Mellow acoustic performer from Stoke Newington

Alys Uprichard: ‘'London based singer/songwriter influenced by such contemporary female artists as Joni Mitchell and the sheer power and creativity of Radiohead and Nirvana’'.

Rebecca Vallim: Vibrant Brazilian music from talented singer.

White Russians: Highly regarded Camden-based five-piece, playing alt country and rock. Have supported Graham Coxon and played last year's Fringe.

Tony Wrafter: The free-jazz master of the sax and flute returns to the Fringe with satirical singer/song-writer Stanley Forbes. The Fringe would not be complete without Tony in the Shillelagh back garden.
