Katus
will be playing the Shillelagh on Saturday afternoon for the
third Fringe in succession. Excellent stuff and welcome back.
Here’s an excerpt from what Bristol magazine Venue recently
said about the duo:
‘A little over a decade ago, folk singer Katus (pronounced
Katoosh) Young was making her live musical debut stood atop
Prague’s Charles Bridge, piccolo in hand as you’d
expect from an artist born to a British father and Czech
mother. It’s a journey she’s made near countless
times since, establishing a dual London/Prague basis at
such established venues as Jazz Club Zelezna, The Globe
and Shakespeare and Son. Yet it was in Bristol that she
met her key collaborator Tony Wrafter, supplier of some
rather fine flute, sax and percussion, as previously commissioned
by the Premier League likes of Tricky and Smith and Mighty.
The results, as heard on her eponymous CD are frankly stunning…’
The reviewer draws comparisons with Christy Moore, Van
Morrison and other luminaries. Miss this free
gig at your peril.
