Mesclun
24 Stoke Newington Church Street, N16
020 7249 5029
'They don't cut corners with food. The menu is awash with
modern buzz ingredients - asparagus, pecorino, bresaola,
corn fed chicken and confit of duck. The cooking's good
and portions are generous, and served by friendly, smiling
staff. The wine list is not huge, but is plenty long enough,
offering an interesting selection of 30 or so wines from
around the world. All in all, Mesclun is the ideal local
restaurant, where you'll always be pleasantly surprised
by the quality of what's on offer, and then again by the
size of the bill.'
Evening Standard - Winner of the Londoner's Award
Mesclun will be hosting live music over the Fringe weekend

Ryan's

ryans-n16.com
'Yellow is the colour that greets you as you enter Ryan's
Bar. Bump into the bar immediately and the pleasant dilemma
of what to drink to have a nosh to eat is on my mind.
It looks like it's all here - lagers, stouts, real ale,
Hoegaarden, wines (seven of which are by the glass) and
a menacing display of spirits all served in a respectable
35ml shot. I go for the house Chardonnay since I'm in
the mood for seafood. The friendly waitress takes my order
of chicken satay as an introduction and squid in a spicy
chilli sauce as the main event
.A diverse world of
earthly pleasures seem to hide behind that deceivingly
yellow front.'
Hackney Gazette
Thai food. Church Street's only table football. Large
beer garden.
One of the nerve centres of the Fringe, with live music
all weekend.
